More than 22,000 Australians were taken prisoner by Japan during World War Two, with around 8,000 dying due to brutality, forced labour, starvation and disease. A new documentary shares their stories through the voices of those who were there.
The RSL has welcomed the Senate inquiry into the proposed sale of Defence estate sites, calling it a critical step to ensure decisions are transparent and deliver long term benefits for veterans, Defence personnel and the broader community.
Claims advocacy is one of the most important services the RSL provides to veterans, largely delivered by trained volunteers. New funding through the BEST Grants Program will expand access to free advocacy services and improve outcomes for veterans.
